Adrian Dickson, Project Manager, International
Prior to starting with Blue Heron in 2014, Adrian was an award-winning journalist and editor for Reuters for more than 20 years. During his time there he held several senior news positions including Bureau Chief Brazil, Managing Editor Latin America, Editor Japan, Managing Editor Asia, and Global Head of News Products. As a journalist Adrian has reported from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Venezuela, Mexico, Cuba, El Salvador, Guatemala, Japan and Hong Kong. He has a BA from Boston College and is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese.
Alexa Lazarus, Deputy Project Manager
Alexa joined Blue Heron in 2018. She graduated with a BA in Political Science from Duke University in 2017, where she wrote for the Duke Political Review and competed with the Duke University Debate Society. She formerly interned for the New York County Lawyers’ Association.
Ciro Scotti, Project Manager
Ciro worked as a newspaper reporter and then spent many years at BusinessWeek (now Bloomberg Businessweek) as copy chief and senior editor for government/politics before being named managing editor. In 2011 he became executive editor of The Fiscal Times and then joined Reuters as deputy managing editor for The Americas. At The Daily Beast, he first served as a consultant and later wrote political columns. He was also managing editor of the social-media opinion site 30dB. Ciro is a graduate of New York University and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Francesca Mirabile, Deputy Project Manager
Francesca joined Blue Heron in 2017. She was previously a fellow at The Trace, an independent news publication covering gun violence. She graduated with honors from Columbia Graduate School of Journalism in 2016 and she holds a BA in Communication with a minor in Psychology from John Cabot University in Rome, Italy. She is a native pugliese and has a background in freelance reporting, graphic design, translating, and hosting radio shows.
John Seeley, Project Manager
Prior to joining Blue Heron in 2019, John held editing positions in Washington, D.C., Kiev, Ukraine, and New York City. In 2009, he was hired to launch and then edit the Greater New York section of The Wall Street Journal. He has also worked for The New York Sun, BusinessWeek, Advertising Age International, and Newsweek, among others.
Mary-Ellen Barker, Project Manager
Before Mary-Ellen began working with Blue Heron in 2012 she was with Reuters News for more than 20 years. After many years of reporting and editing company news she became Global Company News Editor, responsible for a team of 600 company news reporters around the world. She previously worked as a reporter in the UK, Australia and New Zealand. She has a BA in English from Otago University in New Zealand and is currently studying part-time for a degree in Spanish at Birkbeck College, University of London.
Piotr Pillardy, Deputy Project Manager
Piotr joined Blue Heron in 2019. His past experience includes research management and client engagement positions at a boutique management consultancy specializing in governance, risk, and compliance solutions. He graduated with a BA, cum laude, from Cornell University in 2015.
Ravender Sembhy, Deputy Project Manager
Rav joined Blue Heron in 2019 after over a decade in financial journalism, during which time he held several senior editorial positions at the Sunday Express, City AM and the Press Association. He has a special interest in the UK retail, healthcare and banking sectors, as well as distressed debt, shareholder activism and M&A more broadly.
Ray Hegarty, Project Manager, Technology
Ray came to Blue Heron in 2015 with more than 20 years’ experience as a strategic advisor, research analyst and technology journalist serving software, finance and public relations clients. Before joining Blue Heron, he delivered primary research, competitive intelligence, product research & development, and M&A strategies for US, European and Asia-Pacific technology/telecommunication companies. Previously, he served as research analyst at Ziff Brothers Investments, a family investment firm, for more than 11 years. He has a M.Sc. in Information Technology from Cranfield University, an MA in the Sociology of Contemporary Culture from York University and a BA (Hons) from De Montfort University. He has appeared on CNBC and written for Business Week and the Financial Times.
Rose Snyder, Deputy Project Manager
Rose worked as an Editorial Asset Coordinator for Medscape Education/WebMD for 2 years. Her role involved managing small programs, coordinating the copy edit department and training and mentoring the editorial assistant team. Rose has a MA in Publishing from the National University Galway, Ireland and her BA in English and Creative Writing from Hartwick College.
Stephanie Rogan, Project Manager
Joining Blue Heron in 2017, Stephanie was previously a financial columnist and research assistant at Reuters. Her columns have been published in the New York Times, and she has written forpeHUB, Buyouts Magazine, and Venture Capital Journal. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania and began her career in corporate communications.
Stephen Gregory, Project Manager
Stephen comes to Blue Heron with a background in print, radio and digital journalism. For the past 13 years, he worked as an editor in public radio at KPCC in Los Angeles and at Marketplace, the daily economics and business program. Prior to that, he was a freelance business reporter for outlets such as the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times and U.S. News & World Report.
Steve Shepherd, Project Manager
Steve began working for Blue Heron in 2017 and before that was VP-Communications and Division Manager for a national real estate development consulting firm following a 21-year career in journalism as a reporter and editor.
