Adam Jasser, Researcher

Adam Jasser is a consultant on regulatory affairs after spending several years in public administration in Poland. Previously, he was a Reuters financial journalist and editor in Frankfurt, Helsinki, London and Warsaw.


Alex Daily, Research Analyst

Alex Daily joined Blue Heron in 2019. He previously worked at First Advantage BackTrack Reports, starting as a verification specialist in 2013 and ultimately serving as a senior investigator and operations team leader. Prior to working in investigative due diligence, Alex was a bicycle mechanic and bike courier. He earned his Master’s in Library and Information Science from the University of Pittsburgh and a B.A. in history from Lewis and Clark College. He enjoys spending time with his family, reading and all things cycling.


Amy Guttman, Researcher

Amy began working with Blue Heron in 2011. Much of her 18-year career as a news journalist has been spent at the network level, producing and reporting for CBS News. She has produced exclusive investigative stories for the CBS Evening News and has traveled extensively across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa on various assignments. She also worked for National Public Radio and Associated Press. Amy resides in London.


Barry Lytton, Researcher

Barry joined Blue Heron in 2019 after years as an investigative journalist with Connecticut and Minnesota newspapers. In Connecticut, he researched and reported on an array of topics and people for the News-Times in Danbury, Conn. and The Advocate in Stamford, Conn., winning statewide awards for his work. He previously wrote for the Star Tribune in Minneapolis, Minn. and the St. Paul Pioneer Press while attaining a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism from the University of Minnesota.


Brooke Theis, Research Analyst

Brooke joined Blue Heron in 2018. She previously worked at First Advantage BackTrack Reports LLC for more than 13 years. Brooke first served as an investigator at BackTrack before her promotion to a database researcher in November 2011. As a database researcher, she gained extensive experience conducting background due diligence investigations focusing on public records research. Brooke graduated from The Ohio State University in 2002 with a BA in Journalism.


Cullen Wheeler, Practice Leader, Industrials

Cullen serves as a Practice Leader in our New York office. Before joining Blue Heron in 2008, he was an editorial assistant/reporter associate for Fortune magazine and worked at a law firm. In his spare time, he is an actor who has appeared in stage, television and film roles. He is a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi and the Juilliard School Drama Division.


Hope Norman, Practice Leader, Business Due Diligence

Hope joined the Blue Heron team in 2012. She previously spent four years as a healthcare researcher at OTR Global and, prior to that, was a manager at Covance, a leading biopharmaceutical clinical research organization. She developed and managed programs that preserve insurance coverage and improve patient access. She also developed solutions to assist with complex coding and reimbursement issues for various settings of care, implemented patient access programs, addressed payer issues, and conducted reimbursement trainings. Hope has a BA in Psychology from San Diego State University and a Masters of Social Welfare from UCLA.


Keith Epstein, Practice Leader, Healthcare

Starting with Blue Heron in 2012, Keith has more than two decades of Washington-based investigative reporting and editing experience. His articles have appeared in major newspapers such as The Washington Post, the Miami Herald, and magazines including BusinessWeek, Congressional Quarterly, and CIO Insight. He has reported on regional and national political candidates, technology executives, and the pharmaceutical, health care, and insurance industries. He also was a leader at two independent nonprofit newsrooms, the Huffington Post Investigative Fund and the Center for Public Integrity. He has a BA from the University of Pennsylvania.


Marcel Michelson, Researcher

Marcel is a seasoned international financial journalist and editorial manager who worked for 25 years with Reuters and later Thomson Reuters. He was based in Amsterdam, London, Paris, and Zurich and reported from many countries including China, Japan, Spain, Portugal, Turkey, Germany, Italy, Belgium, and the United States. He is currently based in Paris and has a Master’s degree in General and Business Economics from the University of Amsterdam. Marcel is an ardent food aficionado and runs the Maitre Marcel blog. He is the president of the Dutch association in Paris and speaks several languages.


Matt Caprioli, Researcher & Editor

Matt joined Blue Heron in 2018 after three years as an arts and culture reporter for The Anchorage Press, Alaska's largest weekly newspaper, and two years as a content marketer for several B2B software companies. He moved to New York to intern with The Paris Review, and completed a Master of Fine Arts in Nonfiction at Hunter College and the publishing program at Columbia University. His work has appeared in The Anchorage Daily News, HuffPost, ESPN, and Worn in New York.


Mitchell Hulse, Research Analyst

Mitchell Hulse joined Blue Heron in 2017. Prior to Blue Heron, he spent 6 years in investigative due diligence at BackTrack Reports. Before that Mitchell was a firefighter for the Oregon Department of Forestry in Northeast Oregon, where he worked for seven seasons. He graduated from Columbia University with a BA in history.


Paul Mindus, Senior Researcher

Before joining Blue Heron in 2014 Paul worked for The Saint Consulting Group in business development and as editor of The Saint Report, a blog on land use politics. He worked for Reuters for nearly 23 years, as a correspondent in New York, Hong Kong, London and Berlin, as editor of Reuters Magazine for seven years and then as internal communications manager. His journalism background began in US newspapers, including The Patriot Ledger(Quincy, MA), The Boston Herald and The Baltimore Evening Sun. Paul lives in the Bay Area and enjoys golf and the Oakland A’s.


Pablo Correas, Researcher & Associate

Having read an MA in Int. Political Economy at University of Warwick in 2017, Pablo joined Blue Heron in 2018. He has a genuine interest in the politics of global finance, and has worked for the European Investment Bank as a trainee. He also holds a BA in Economics and Politics from Swansea University and speaks basic Italian and French.


Renee Ferguson, Researcher

Renee has covered technology as a journalist and research analyst for more than 15 years. After eight+ years at Ziff Davis reporting on enterprise tech trends and strategy, Renee transitioned to Senior Analyst roles with Kennedy Consulting and Edison Group, researching and benchmarking the software, hardware and infrastructure markets. Renee began to work more closely with CIOs during tenures at MIT Sloan Management Review, where she researched and wrote about the global impacts of data and analytics, and as the Principal Analyst with the TBM Council. Most recently, as Lead Researcher in Deloitte’s CIO Program, Renee covered the latest technology and leadership trends that help tech executives get ahead and stay ahead. She has a BA from Skidmore College.


Riva Atlas, Practice Leader, Finance & Real Estate

Joining the Blue Heron team in 2012, Riva was previously a financial reporter for more than 20 years with such prestigious publications as The New York Times, Forbes and Institutional Investor. After leaving journalism in 2006 she worked for more than three years as a research analyst for Ziff Brothers Investments, a family financial investment firm. Since 2009, she has been an independent research and writing consultant. She has BA in English Literature from the City University of New York’s Queens College.


Ryan Daley, Researcher

Before joining Blue Heron, Ryan worked in military intelligence and special operations where he learnt Modern Standard Arabic and Persian-Farsi. Ryan completed government internships in Utah and Massachusetts and was formerly a Qualitative Analyst for the social research firm Traverse. Ryan also has advanced training in both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies. Ryan holds a BS in Political Science from Northeastern University where he graduated summa cum laude, was a recipient of the University’s Compass Award and an inductee the Huntington 100. Additionally, Ryan has dual-MSc degrees from the London School of Economics and Political Science in Global Politics and Social Research Methods. Ryan grew up on both sides of the Atlantic and in his spare time enjoys painting, making fresh pasta and running.


Sara Qureshi, Researcher

Prior to joining Blue Heron in 2017, Sara was an editorial intern at Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting and a media consultant for the Drug Policy Alliance. She graduated from Hunter College with a BA in Media Studies and a minor in Human Rights.


Steve Holland, Researcher

Steve joined Blue Heron in 2017. Before that, he was a journalist and editor in Australia, Asia and Europe, reporting on politics, business and finance. He holds a Master of Laws (Juris Doctor) degree from Monash University and a Master of International Relations degree from the University of Melbourne. Steve is based in Amsterdam.


Stuart Grudgings, Researcher

Stuart is a veteran international journalist with more than two decades of reporting experience in Asia, the U.S., and Latin America. Over the course of his 19-year career with Reuters, Stuart held reporting and editing assignments in Singapore, Japan, the Philippines, Malaysia, Brazil and Washington, D.C. He began his research and journalism career as a financial analyst for IDEAGlobal, a market intelligence firm in Singapore. Stuart is a British national and holds a BA in Politics from Sheffield University and a MA in European Studies from Leeds University.


Tiziana Barghini, Researcher

Starting at Blue Heron in 2014, Tiziana was previously a reporter and editor for 25 years in Europe and the U.S. for Reuters. During her time there she was editor for Southern Europe and economics editor in New York City, reporting on financial crises, corporate battles, mobsters, popes, and politics. She has a Master’s degree in Economics from Bocconi University in Milan, plus study of Journalism and Business at Stanford University and is fluent in Italian and Spanish.


Tiffany Cordero, Researcher

Tiffany joined Blue Heron in 2016 after graduating magna cum laude from Mercy College’s School of Business with a BS in Marketing and a minor in Journalism. She has a background in freelance reporting and is fluent in Spanish.
